Guns and the GOP

Well Trump Stumpers,

The issue of guns has come roaring to the front lines of the GOP civil war, er, I mean race for the candidacy.  Jeb Bush comes out of nowhere and posted a picture of his FN that engraved with his name.

A nice gift to a visiting politician.  People are wasting time and getting distracted over nothing. There has been a grand tradition of giving firearms to world leaders throughout history.

Here are some famous examples:

Napoleon Bonaparte had a pistol gifted to him by Lieutenant-Colonel Thomas Thornton.  This pistol was a three barreled flintlock.

George Washington received this matched pair of French made saddle pistols from the Marquis de Lafayette.  These same pistols would later be gifted to President Andrew Jackson.
George Washington The Father of Our Country was not only an avid hunter but also quite the gun aficionado. Numerous sets of pistols with provenance to the General are currently on exhibit at his Mount Vernon, Va., home as well as at the U. S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y.

President Lincoln was presented a gold plated Henry Repeating rifle, serial number 6.

Another repeater made famous by its use during the war was the Henry Repeating Rifle. Serial No. 6 was presented to Lincoln with a fully engraved, gold-plated receiver. It was honored with the NRA’s first National Treasure Gold Medal Award in 1998, making it the finest-made, historically significant firearm in the country.

President Theodore Roosevelt was presented with a double rifle, Kornbrath engraved. in .450/500 NE by Fredrick Adolph.

TR’s big stick was a Frederick Adolph .450-500 NE that he never got a chance to take to Africa. It spent most of its life on display at the Abercrombie & Fitch Manhattan store or at the National Firearms Museum at NRA HQ. A sportsman, described as a wealthy Chicago businessman, drowned in Alaska in 1910 leaving the arms importer, Frederick Adolph, stuck with a double rifle, Kornbrath engraved and in .450/500 NE that he had already taken delivery on. Not one to let a chance for some publicity escape him, Adolph, with some public fanfare, presented the gun to Theodore Roosevelt at his home on Sagamore Hill, Oyster Bay, Long Island, N.Y. TR never had any occasion to use the gun and asked that it be displayed in the window of Abercrombie & Fitch in Manhattan for a time. Eventually it was given to one of his hunting guides and donated to the NRA through the efforts of Ron Peterson of Albuquerque, N.M. Lt. Col. Theodore Roosevelt was the Executive Officer of the 1st United States Volunteer Cavalry when it embarked from Tampa, Fla., in June of 1898 and headed to Cuba. Most of the infantry of the U.S. Army at that time was equipped with the .45-70 black powder Springfield Trapdoor single-shot rifle and carbine. Roosevelt used his political capitol to equip his men with the Model 1896 Krag Jorgensen carbine in .30-40 smokeless. TR personally took a Winchester Model 1895 Carbine with him and loaned it to Trooper Bob Wrenn who arrived in Cuba late and without a longarm. Wrenn was a four-time U.S. tennis singles championship winner, and a charter inductee in the International Tennis Hall of Fame. The carbine is currently on loan to the National Firearms Museum in Fairfax, Va., from the Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace National Historic Site of the National Park Service in Manhattan, N.Y.

I think I have more than made my point that famous, and some infamous, people have received firearms as gifts over the history of the United States.  People need to stop losing their minds over it and not get distracted by establishment fluff.  We need to get our focus back and start thinking about what is going to be done to save the Republic we live in, or at least make sure that the implosion is a controlled one.

Here is one last parting picture for you gun fans out there:

This is the 1911 that Elvis gave to President Richard Nixon when he visited the White House.  Can you imagine somebody getting a gun into the White House to give it to Obama?

The Road Ahead

In 2016  we are going to start doing a series of videos while experimenting with a video blog.  The first Vlog is titled The Road Ahead and features the talent of Christopher Hurt.  Please visit his Blog Mirror Universe and read more about the current militia situation in Oregon.

The presidential candidates used the Bundy Ranch standoff back in 2014 to help build support for what was going to be their presidential runs.  Since then the Militias and Patriots have had a couple of more standoffs with the Feds and the Federal Government has backed down every time.  Now, in order to protest the Bundy family members getting sentenced twice for the same crime, the same group has taken over a Federal building in an Oregon National Wild Life Refuge.

Thanksgiving; Everyone take Five

It's Thanksgiving week 2015 and everyone is going to taking time to be with people and do the Christmas rehearsal dinner.  Pay close attention this week as the "family" messages come out of each campaign.

Here is a throwback picture courtesy of www.whitehouse.gov of then First Lady Hillary Clinton serving Thanksgiving Dinner to homeless people.

The former President and former First Lady feeding the homeless.

This was in 1993 and the Clintons were in their first term in the White House; they were giving back to the community by volunteering; wait, is it possible for a public servant to volunteer to help the public? Anyhow, they are doing a fine job of staging a feeding of the homeless.  Witness they bounty that she is offering for Thanksgiving; some sort of giant vegetable platter.  Also, that little boy is eating a white bread sandwich.   That's right boys and girls, once upon a time it was OK to give children white bread.

Let's see how Bernie Sanders has spent past Thanksgivings according to the internet image search.

(30 min image search)

Ok, so other than the pictures of Bernie Sanders eating ice cream or dining with a rapper, there are no pictures of Bernie Sanders doing the Thanksgiving thing.  Wow.

On to the other side of the aisle.

Marco Rubio celebrating Thanksgiving; go-go gadget Google search.

(30 min image search)

Hmmm.  No dice.  In the old days everybody that had a camera, and we are talking about pre-digital here, took at least one picture of Thanksgiving.

Well, lets just look do a search of presidential candidates having Thanksgiving and see what turns up.

HAHAHAHAHA.  Here is a great picture of Michele Bachmann having Thanksgiving.

That took a turn in a hurry.

(10 min laughing fit)

Well, here is a more serious picture of the Candidates in Iowa praying over fall themed decorations; which after Michele Bachmann, I will take it.

Republican U.S. presidential candidates Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, and Rick Santorum pray at the Presidential Family Forum in Des Moines, Iowa. MARK KAUZLARICH / Reuters

Rick Santorum looks like he is pleading for his life in a Godfather film.

You know, I started writing this blog wanting to show the candidates sharing a tradition that covers all people in the United States every November.  It's part of our core being.  As it turns out, Hillary Clinton wins Thanksgiving day picture.  I leave you with one last picture that sums up how this Thanksgiving week blog post out.

Donald Trump turkey complete with comb over!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

So long Joe... The Democratic stage is set

Fred Thompson during the Watergate hearings

First and foremost I would like to say good-bye to long time Senator Fred Thompson(R TN 1994-2003).  He passed away on Nov. 1, 2015 and will be missed.  Sen. Thompson made a Presidential bid in 2008 and helped to shape some of the conservative issues of that election.  I enjoyed his work on television and in movies over the years and supported his presidential bid.  God speed and thank you for sharing your talents and wisdom with the rest of us sir.

Now on to the election.

Joe Biden has officially announced that he will not be joining the Presidential race.  This leaves the two major front runners- Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders- can now expend resources winning over the hearts and minds of the American public.

Hillary has emerged from her questioning on Capital Hill over the email scandal mostly unscathed, just showing us that she has some of that same magic that her husband used back in the '90s.
It seems that scandals that would have made any normal mortal being run into seclusion for the rest of their lives have only made her more resolute.

I am not a Democrat, but I am really interested in watching this match play out.  The "debate" didn't sort any of the candidates out; it was just a big anti-corporation, anti-NRA, anti-capitalism event.  It wasn't anything new.

The great battle is shaping up
On the Republican side of the contest the good Dr. Ben Carson has made some headway in some state polls.  A recent NBC poll has both Trump and Carson tied around 26%.  I have been a fan of Dr. Carson for some time, but I have felt that he didn't have the presence to really project his message and clinch a Presidency.  My feelings were wrong; this has turned into a tortoise and hare race.

This is a battle that America needs and wants.

Crowded Field and Unfocused Goals

Everybody on board!

The Republican National Committee has been trying to reign in what is being referred to as, "the debate circus".   To be perfectly honest, it has been; the Republican Party is so schizophrenic that no two people can agree on which problems that are facing America are the most important.  The Republican National Committee wants to hold off on agreeing to things like under-card debates until they can get the candidate field figured out.

GOP making it too easy for the Dems.
Why have there an army of candidates for the Republican party for the last two elections?  I hate to think that there are shadow societies running big politics; cabals of people in robes chanting in some weird forgotten language while quietly pulling the strings of the world's affairs.  When anybody points their fingers at the "man" or "the system" when describing why they cannot get ahead I shake my head.  At the national level though, they might be right.  If a group of people want to get their man or woman into office, then they simply have to make sure that the votes are watered down by throwing up a dozen candidates that appeal to the same groups of people.  The candidates are similar with minor differences that cause the party as a whole to fracture.  The issues of guns, abortion, immigration, public assistance, and taxes are simple things that you can divide a room faster than a game of monopoly.  So while you are looking at all the smiling faces across the TV ads remember that most of them are tools, drones, and puppets.
The Bilderberg group visual aid.

The recent battle for the Speaker of the House is also very distracting.  More and more people are getting bombarded with more and more information and as a result people are turning off to the noise.  This results in a certain portion of society even thinking the election has already happened.  It happens every election; there are a number of members of the public that have no idea that there is an election coming up next year, think it already happened, or don't even know who the current President of the United States is.

At this point the battle lines have stabilized on the GOP side.  I don't see anyone making huge swings in the polls of a little while.  The Democrats have begun to really set up their battle lines.  It is shaping up to be a serious fight between Biden and Sanders.  Hillary is going to hang in there long after she should have retired and end up costing the other candidates lots of money.  I think the focus will now fade off the GOP as we enter the second part of act one of the 2016 election story.

The Running of the Mouths

America, at least the Republicans, are getting ready for the second "dog and pony show" that they like to call the second Republican debate.  At the Reagan Presidential Library, with Reagan's Air Force One as a backdrop, the candidates are well aware that there are only 5 months left until the Iowa Caucuses.  There are a lot of people making their guesses as to what is going to happen tonight when the contenders at the back of the pack try to break out and move up.

The conventional wisdom is that Trump is unstoppable;  I do not agree completely with that.  Since the last debates the forces that are working against him have been putting in overtime studying him, his habits, and finding his weaknesses.  From what I have seen his ego and sense of self-righteousness have served as a sort of thick coat of paint to cover the cracks in his persona.  Here are some things that I would use to whittle him down and peal back some of those layers to show the cracks.

1)  Total inexperience as a public servant.

The well meaning Barney Fife

Donald Trump has been a refreshing voice on a lot of issues and I believe that if he had done this pre-Obama (PO) then he might have been able to change America for the better and get us into a real recovery with a sense of nationalism not seen since the end of the Cold War.   Trump isn't saying anything that anyone else hasn't at least been thinking, but the anti-American forces in this country have had free reign for a long time now.  They are not only hurdles of trying to fight the groups in Congress, but the Supreme Court and members of the Government as a whole.   Also, he has to figure out how to keep his own party from doing everything they can to punish him and the American people for stepping out of line.  Barack Obama was a mistake, but he was put where he is by powerful people and is doing exactly what he is told.

2) That mouth of his.

Trump like to say things to people

Time to hire a handler. Seriously, the world is full of some GREAT people to help you know what to say and when to say it.  This spray and pray tactic is only good while the ammo is plentiful; don't over use it.

3) They are coming for you.

Megyn Kelly was a huge ratings coup for FOX.  Everyone was talking about Megyn Kelly and Trump.  CNN has been falling behind and has been stale for a long time.  The "Missing Airline Network" has been needing something to give them some credibility and tonight they are not going to miss their chance.  I am really interested in seeing how the other candidates react when this becomes the Trump show.

4) Ideals and real down to Earth Americans.

Chinese invasion begins!

Outside of some name similarities, Trump and I have about as much in common as river rocks and butterflies.  Seriously.  I am sure that I would be stopped and questioned just coming into one of his properties.  I would like him to keep being Trump and not put on a flannel shirt to be photographed digging a hole somewhere that isn't a ground breaking ceremony on a new property.  I like that he is super wealthy and I am poor; each of us can agree on the problems that affect us both.

5) There are powerful people out there who will do anything to win.

Da fishes wit 'em
When the drug lord was allowed to escape from prison I figured that this was the prologue to an assassination attempt.  There are a lot of people who simply vanish or die under questionable circumstances in Washington.  I would say that I hope that Donald Trump buys a great security team and safety makes it through the cycle.

Candidates Prepare Their Texas Sidesteps

At this point in the game we are getting wound up for the 2nd debate, to be held in Colorado on September the 16th 2015.  I need to remind everyone that this is still REALLY early in the cycle and a lot can change.   Already since the last debate we have seen Carly Fiorina and Dr. Ben Carson start getting more press; they were the ones that were bringing up the back of the pack before.  Now, we find them being talked about and everyone in between has more or less gone silent.

It's bad when your strategy is being written by these two

Why?  Why aren't the other candidates out there trying to engage their opponents?  Why is the GOP primary shaping up into a David and Goliath fight?  I think it is because the Republican establishment have blown every ghost of a chance to make things right with the real Americans.  They were elected with mandate after mandate only to roll over and fail in every possible way.  Then only way the establishment could have failed any worse is if they all decided to actually change parties and quit pretending.  You know what? Scratch that.  I want them to all change parties; I am sick of having to work so hard to try to guess who is a Republican (or conservative) in name only (RINO).  We will never get rid of the party system so why can't we do more to punish those who are traitors and saboteurs? I digress.

People need to pay REAL close attention to what happens during this election cycle.  The globe is pandering to terrorist gangsters; facists and communists, I mean Labor parties are being swept into high offices in Europe; and it is illegal to make people prove that they are US citizens to register to vote in this country.  We as a people have to stop reading bumper stickers; start looking for the clues and making our own minds up about what we want.  In this up coming debate, really listen close to the answers that people give and ask yourself if they are actually giving answers to the questions.

Charles Durning doing the Texas Sidestep

Don't let this chance to stop the bleeding pass; we might never get another chance.
